A food delivery company and a powerful union have proposed alternative ways of regulating gig economy workers to avoid lengthy court battles over whether they are really employees and not independent contractors. A spokesman for Deliveroo told Fairfax Media it wants a way to maintain flexibility “hand in hand with security” in what has been described as a “third way” of regulating workers.
